Development of National Standard & Qualifications Portfolio

In the early days of the Standards Development Programme, Pareas Associates was commissioned by a number of key industry bodies to develop National Occupational Standards and Qualifications working directly with employers and with all levels of competence, from basic skills to management.

Examples:

People 1st Level 4 Hospitality Standards Pareas Associates was contracted to help develop the National Occupational Standards for Level 4, Management, working with People 1st, the Sector Skills Council, focusing on two specialist areas - Kitchen Management and Front of House. We drafted the standards, liaised with industry representatives, made amendments and modified the standards following an online consultation with industry. We also consulted with employers to establish the nature and content of National Occupational Standards for Level 4 professions in the hospitality industry. The information collated from the focus groups was instrumental in the production of the standards for Professional Cookery, Food and Beverage, Front of House and Housekeeping at Advanced Craft level. Updating Travel and Tourism Standards (January – December 2008) Pareas Associates partnered with another consultancy and in collaboration with People 1st to update the existing standards for Travel and Tourism. We carried out a wide-ranging consultation with industry – including postal and online surveys, collaboration and liaised with the project Steering and Employer Working Groups.

Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) Consultants - 14-19 Hospitality and Travel and Tourism Diplomas (2006) Pareas Associates were commissioned to support the development of the Hospitality Diploma at levels 1,2 and 3. Our work, which also supported the development of the Travel and Tourism Diploma, included managing key industry consultations, facilitating workshops, producing reports – including an important study on how existing qualifications compared with the 14-19 Diploma – and presenting to Steering Group and Expert Panel meetings.
